Kenya to Host Major Cybersecurity Summit as Billions of Digital Threats Raise Alarm
Kenya is set to host a major cybersecurity conference later this month as government agencies and technology experts intensify efforts to combat the growing wave of cyberattacks targeting public institutions, businesses and critical infrastructure.

The five-day Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) Conference, jointly organised by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and the National Computer and Cybercrimes Coordination Committee (NC4), will take place in Naivasha from June 29 to July 3.
The event comes at a time when Kenya is experiencing a sharp increase in cyber threats, fuelled by rapid digital transformation across government services, financial institutions, telecommunications networks and private sector organisations.
According to the conference concept note, the annual gathering has evolved into one of the country’s leading platforms for discussions on information security, cyber resilience and emerging technological risks.
“The conference provides a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, share experiences and explore innovative solutions to emerging cybersecurity challenges,” the organisers stated.
The summit is expected to bring together senior government officials, ICT professionals, cybersecurity specialists, regulators, private sector executives, academics and technology solution providers from Kenya and beyond.
Organisers say the conference will focus on addressing increasingly sophisticated cyber threats that continue to expose organisations to financial losses, operational disruptions and reputational damage.
Recent threat intelligence reports referenced in the conference documents indicate that Kenya has recorded billions of cyber threat incidents in recent months. These include ransomware attacks, artificial intelligence-powered phishing scams, business email compromise schemes, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks and the exploitation of vulnerable digital systems.
Experts warn that as organisations become more dependent on digital technologies, cybercriminals are adopting more advanced tactics that can compromise sensitive information and disrupt essential services.
The conference concept note describes information security as a critical pillar of organisational governance and operational resilience, stressing the importance of protecting data, maintaining public trust and ensuring business continuity.
The event will also highlight internationally recognised security frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001, which provides guidelines for identifying, assessing and managing information security risks.
Delegates attending the conference will participate in pre-conference workshops, specialised training sessions, keynote presentations, panel discussions and live technology demonstrations.
Cybersecurity firms and technology vendors will also showcase cutting-edge security solutions designed to help organisations strengthen their digital defences against evolving threats.
Participation is expected from national and county governments, state corporations, financial institutions, telecommunications companies, non-governmental organisations and academic institutions.
Organisers say the conference aims to strengthen collaboration between policymakers, regulators and technology providers while encouraging organisations to adopt globally recognised security standards.
“The conference has established itself as a premier platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing and collaboration among stakeholders in the information security ecosystem,” the concept note states.
Among the anticipated outcomes are increased adoption of innovative cybersecurity solutions, enhanced technical capacity among ICT professionals, stronger cooperation between stakeholders and the development of long-term partnerships focused on securing Kenya’s digital future.
Hundreds of delegates are expected to attend the event, reflecting the growing importance of cybersecurity as Kenya continues to expand its digital economy and embrace technology-driven services.
