KUCCPS Placement Portal to Open in March for 2025 KCSE Candidates
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has confirmed that the university and college placement portal will open in March 2026 for candidates who sat the 2025 KCSE examination.
Official Announcement from KUCCPS CEO
In an interview with Inooro TV on Monday, January 26, 2026, KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome highlighted the importance of this timeline. She explained that opening the portal in March is a key preparation step for the smooth transition of learners to tertiary institutions, with most intakes typically starting in September.
Support and Guidance for Applicants
Once the portal launches, applicants will receive comprehensive guidance materials to assist them in navigating the system and making well-informed choices for universities and colleges.
Wahome emphasized that KUCCPS is actively verifying the capacities declared by universities and colleges. This ensures that student placements align perfectly with institutional availability, avoiding any confusion during the process. “There is a lot of work going on both on the college and university side as well as on our side so that we may ensure that when I announce the placement, there is no confusion,” Wahome stated.
Equal Access Through Huduma Centres
To support students facing internet or access challenges, KUCCPS has established dedicated desks at Huduma centres nationwide, staffed with trained personnel. In centres without specific desks, nearby cyber cafés have operators trained on the KUCCPS system. This initiative guarantees that every 2025 KCSE candidate can apply fairly and conveniently.
Inclusive Placement for All Candidates
Wahome reassured applicants that every student who sat the 2025 KCSE will have the opportunity to select preferred courses and institutions based on their grades. “In our system, there is nothing like failure; we accommodate everyone, even those who got an E,” she affirmed.
Career Guidance and Upcoming Exhibition
KUCCPS will leverage the upcoming national career guidance conference to offer valuable insights on higher education and career paths. The three-day event, scheduled from January 27 to 29, 2026, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), will bring together students, parents, universities, colleges, professional bodies, and private sector partners. Over 100 institutions are expected to participate in the exhibition.
2025 KCSE Examination Statistics
A total of 993,000 candidates (approximately 492,019 boys and 501,214 girls) sat the 2025 KCSE national examination. Key performance highlights include:
