KUCCPS Reopens Portal for Second Revision of Course Choices, Deadline Set for June 6

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially reopened its online portal for a second round of course selection, giving students another opportunity to revise their university and college programme choices or submit new applications.

In a statement released on Saturday, May 31, KUCCPS announced that the application window will remain open for one week, with the deadline set for Thursday, June 6, 2025.

โ€œThe KUCCPS application system is open for the second revision of university, college, and programme choices. KCSE holders who have not applied for courses or those who applied but were unsuccessful are invited to apply,โ€ read the official notice.

This second revision phase comes just days after the close of the first application window, which ran from May 18 to May 27, 2025. The move is aimed at accommodating students from the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort who either missed the initial application or did not receive a placement offer.

๐Ÿ” How to Apply or Revise Programme Choices

Eligible applicants are required to log in to the KUCCPS student portal at students.kuccps.net using the following credentials:

  • KCSE index number
  • KCSE year (2024)
  • Password, which can be either their KCPE index number or birth certificate number

Once logged in, students can browse available programmes, revise their previous selections, or make new applications entirely. KUCCPS has advised applicants to ensure that their new choices align with their KCSE performance and individual career goals.

๐ŸŽ“ Opportunities for Public and Private Institutions

KUCCPS reiterated that the current application round includes placement opportunities in:

  • 40 public universities โ€” eligible for both government scholarships and HELB loans
  • 29 private universities โ€” eligible for HELB loans only
  • 263 public colleges โ€” also eligible for government scholarships and HELB loans

This broad range of options allows applicants to select from degree, diploma, and certificate courses in various fields, based on their KCSE qualifications and personal aspirations.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Why the Second Revision Matters

For many students, this second application phase represents the final opportunity to secure a spot in their preferred academic programmes before the 2025/2026 academic year begins. Those who do not utilize this period risk missing government sponsorship opportunities or being locked out of formal placement altogether.

The placement service has emphasized the importance of accurate and timely applications, urging candidates to double-check course minimum requirements, institutional capacities, and funding eligibility.

โ€œThis is a critical period, especially for those who were unsuccessful in the first application. We encourage all eligible KCSE holders to take advantage of this second window,โ€ KUCCPS stated.

๐Ÿ”„ Application Timeline Recap

  • March 28, 2025: KUCCPS opened the first application window, introducing the complete list of eligible institutions and funding options.
  • May 18โ€“27, 2025: First revision phase for those who needed to adjust initial programme choices.
  • May 31โ€“June 6, 2025: Second revision and new application phase now underway.

KUCCPS has committed to a transparent placement process, assuring applicants that successful candidates will be placed based on merit, available slots, and the prioritization of government-sponsored institutions.

Students, parents, and guardians are encouraged to monitor official KUCCPS communication channels for further updates or clarifications.
