Speaker Wetang’ula Appoints 10-Member Funeral Team for Late MP Johana Ng’eno

The Speaker Wetang’ula funeral team has officially been constituted following the tragic death of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Kipyegon Ng’eno in a fatal helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula announced the formation of a ten-member parliamentary team to coordinate funeral arrangements and provide support to the late legislator’s family during this difficult period.

The team will liaise directly with the family to organize the send-off and ensure Parliament fulfills its role in honoring one of its own.

Team Led by Julius Melly

The committee will be chaired by Tinderet MP Julius Melly and deputized by Mugambi Rindikiri, alongside eight other Members of Parliament tasked with offering comprehensive support.

Announcing the decision in an official communication to the House, Wetang’ula stated:

”I have appointed a team led by the Member for Tinderet Constituency, Hon. Julius Melly, CBS, MP and assisted by Hon. Mugambi Rindikiri, CBS, MP and eight other Members, to liaise with the family to coordinate support for the family including send-off, upon decision by the family,” the statement read in part.

The appointment underscores Parliament’s tradition of standing with bereaved families of sitting lawmakers and coordinating state-assisted funeral arrangements.

Profound Sorrow in the National Assembly

Speaker Wetang’ula also conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Parliamentary Service Commission, the National Assembly of Kenya, and himself.

”On behalf of the House, the Parliamentary Service Commission and on my own behalf, I convey our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the late Hon. Ng’eno and the families of the other passengers whose lives we have also lost,” Wetangula said.

The House observed the announcement in solemn reflection as members paid tribute to a colleague remembered for his dedication to legislative work.
