Announce Major Auction of Vehicles, Livestock and Office Equipment
Kenyans will have an opportunity to acquire government-owned vehicles, office equipment, furniture and livestock at competitive prices after the National Treasury and the Ministry of Agriculture announced separate public auctions scheduled for later this month.

The two government departments issued public notices on Tuesday, June 16, revealing plans to dispose of excess, obsolete and boarded assets through open bidding exercises set for June 30, 2026.
The auctions form part of the government’s asset disposal programme aimed at complying with public asset management regulations while creating space for replacement of outdated equipment and vehicles.
Treasury to Auction Vehicles and Office Equipment
In its notice, the National Treasury, through the State Department for Economic Planning, announced that it will auction boarded motor vehicles, office furniture and general office equipment.
The exercise will take place from 11am at the Ministry of Public Works Yard along Machakos Road in Nairobi and will be conducted by a licensed auctioneer.
“The State Department for Economic Planning shall sell by public auction boarded vehicles, general office equipment and office furniture on June 30, 2026, from 11am at the Ministry of Public Works Yard, Machakos Road, Nairobi,” the notice stated.
Treasury officials encouraged prospective buyers to inspect the assets before the auction date and familiarise themselves with the items on offer.
The ministry further indicated that a comprehensive inventory of all assets earmarked for disposal has been published on the department’s official website.
To participate in the auction, interested bidders will be required to pay a refundable deposit equivalent to 10 per cent of the reserve price of the category they intend to bid for.
“Bidders will be issued a bidding number upon payment of the bid number deposit, which will serve as an entry pass to the auction yard,” Treasury explained.

Agriculture Ministry Announces Separate Auction
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture has unveiled a parallel auction involving used vehicles, livestock and various obsolete government items.
The auction will be held at the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KARLO) headquarters in Kabete along Waiyaki Way, beginning at 10am on June 30.
Potential buyers have been invited to inspect the assets between June 16 and June 27 before participating in the bidding process.
The ministry cautioned bidders that all assets will be sold on an “as-is-where-is” basis, meaning successful purchasers will accept the items in their current condition without any guarantees or warranties.
According to the notice, bidders interested in vehicles will be required to pay a refundable deposit of KSh30,000 to obtain a bidding number, while those interested in livestock must deposit KSh1,000.
The Agriculture Ministry also set strict payment timelines for successful bidders.
According to the auction conditions, buyers will be required to settle the full purchase price within 24 hours of winning their bids.
In addition, all purchased items must be collected within seven days after the auction date, failing which storage charges may be imposed on uncollected assets.
Opportunity for Bargain Hunters
The twin auctions are expected to attract significant interest from individuals, businesses and institutions seeking affordable vehicles, office furniture and equipment.
Government auctions have increasingly become popular among bargain hunters because they often offer assets at prices below prevailing market rates, although buyers are encouraged to inspect items thoroughly before making bids due to their used condition.
With both ministries disposing of a wide range of assets on the same day, interested Kenyans are expected to turn out in large numbers as the government moves to clear surplus inventory and obsolete property from its books.
