Ademba Allans Issues Gen-Z Ultimatum as 2027 Political Ambitions Take Shape
Social media activist and ‘Niko Kadi’ campaign frontman Ademba Allans has issued a stark ultimatum to Kenya’s youth, linking mass voter registration to his anticipated entry into the 2027 General Election race.

In a statement shared on X on April 27, Ademba challenged Gen-Z voters to register before the deadline set by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), warning that time was running out.
“If you’ve been sent this video, you know you haven’t registered for voting, and the voting deadline is on Tuesday, and we only have two days left,” he said.
In a bold pledge, the activist tied his political ambitions to the outcome of the ongoing registration drive, declaring: “If we could get only 300,000 new voters, I will announce the seat that I will vie for in the coming 2027 general elections.”
His remarks come amid an intensified push under the IEBC’s Continuous Enhanced Voter Registration exercise, where Ademba has set an ambitious target of mobilising up to 2.5 million new voters—far exceeding the 300,000 threshold he cited in his ultimatum.
Pressed further on his political intentions, Ademba maintained that clarity would come soon, stating simply: “I will announce by Tuesday.”
Ademba has recently gained prominence for championing youth political participation through the viral ‘Niko Kadi’ slogan, a phrase that has become synonymous with civic engagement among young Kenyans. The movement, which began as a social media challenge, has reportedly attracted over one million youth participants, with a long-term goal of registering up to 15 million voters ahead of the 2027 polls.

The activist has also been a vocal supporter of former Chief Justice David Maraga’s reported presidential ambitions under the United Green Movement (UGM). He has been spotted accompanying Maraga during the ongoing ‘Ukatiba Caravan’, further fuelling speculation about his deepening involvement in national politics.
Despite the growing momentum, Ademba has repeatedly cautioned against political interference in the youth-driven initiative, insisting it must remain independent and citizen-led.
Meanwhile, a new wave of youthful political aspirants is beginning to emerge ahead of the 2027 elections. Among them is Billy Mwangi, who rose to prominence following his alleged abduction in December 2024 and has since declared his intention to contest the Embu County senatorial seat under the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Similarly, activist Wanjira Wanjiru has hinted at a possible bid, positioning herself as a proponent of issue-based politics centred on social justice, governance reforms, and human rights.
As the countdown to the voter registration deadline intensifies, Ademba’s ultimatum underscores a growing trend of youth-led political mobilisation that could significantly shape Kenya’s electoral landscape in 2027.
