Court Issues Arrest Warrant for MP George Koimburi Over Alleged Fake Abduction

A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest for Juja MP George Koimburi and two others over a staged abduction.

On Wednesday, July 16, four people appeared before Milimani Law Courts to take plea on charges of conspiracy to obstruct justice and giving false information to police officers.

The accused—Kanyenya-ini ward MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu, Peter Kiratu Mbari, David Macharia Gatana and Cyrus Muhia—pleaded not guilty. They were released on a bond of KSh 300,000 each after the prosecution did not oppose their release, citing their cooperation during the investigation and their promise to attend court.

“We are not opposed to the release of any of the present accused persons on bond,” the state prosecutor said.

However, the prosecution sought warrants of arrest for Koimburi and two others who failed to appear in court—Peter (6th accused) and Njuguna alias Njugush (7th accused).

The charge sheet shows the seven accused conspired to obstruct justice by staging a fake abduction of Koimburi to prevent him from attending Kiambu Law Courts over a land fraud case.

Koimburi also faces an additional charge of publishing false information under Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act.

According to the charge sheet, “George Koimburi Ndung’u, on 7th June 2025 at Karen Hospital via YouTube account, gave a press release stating that he had been abducted and tortured by some criminals, information which he knew was false and was meant to cause panic among the public.”

His co-accused, Peter Kiratu Muhia, also faces an additional count of giving false information to a public officer, contrary to Section 129(a) of the Penal Code. It is alleged he told police that Koimburi had been kidnapped by masked individuals after attending a church service at Full Gospel Church Mugutha.
