Lenana School Announces Phased Readmission of Students Following June Unrest

Lenana School Closed Indefinitely After Student Unrest

Lenana School has released a detailed readmission schedule for all learners following the unrest that disrupted normal learning activities at the institution earlier this month.

In a notice addressed to parents and guardians, the school management confirmed that students will be readmitted in phases after consultations involving the Ministry of Education, the Board of Management, and Parents Association (PA) stakeholders.

The decision follows the unrest that occurred on June 1, 2026, which led to the temporary disruption of learning and prompted school authorities to review measures aimed at restoring order and discipline within the institution.

According to the statement, student check-in and readmission will be conducted between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on the designated reporting dates. The administration cautioned that students arriving outside the allocated time window will not be processed.

Under the schedule, Form Four students will be the first to return, reporting on Wednesday, June 10. Other classes, including Grade 10 and Form Three learners, will return on different dates between June 15 and June 19 as part of a phased reopening plan.

The school has also outlined a number of conditions that must be fulfilled before students are allowed back into the institution.

Among the requirements, all outstanding school fees and any other financial obligations must be settled in full before readmission. Additionally, every student will be required to contribute KSh 3,600 towards the repair of property damaged during the unrest.

The administration further directed that students must report to school accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Learners arriving with siblings, relatives, or other representatives will not be processed for readmission.

School officials also warned that strict adherence to the institution’s dress code will be enforced. Students found in possession of prohibited items or reporting in unauthorized attire risk being denied entry.

Mobile phones, electronic gadgets, civilian clothing, and any other unauthorized items remain strictly prohibited within the school compound, according to the notice.

“The measures put in place are intended to ensure an orderly resumption of learning and reinforce discipline within the school community,” the administration stated.

The phased reopening comes as schools across the country continue to emphasize student discipline, safety, and accountability following incidents of unrest that have affected several learning institutions in recent years.

Parents and students have been urged to comply fully with the outlined requirements to facilitate a smooth and uninterrupted return to classes.
