Milly Wa Doc’s Death Linked to Acute Kidney Failure After Surgery, Family Confirms
The family of popular TikTok personality Milly Wa Doc has disclosed that complications following surgery led to her untimely death, barely a month after her wedding. The 25-year-old content creator died from acute kidney failure, according to family statements made during a gathering at their home.
Milly, born Millicent Achieng, had been admitted to hospital after developing a stomach cyst that doctors advised should be surgically removed. While the surgery was initially deemed successful, her condition rapidly declined in the days that followed.
“She left the hospital in stable condition. But that same night, she passed away. It was so sudden,” said her aunt, Monica.
According to the family, Milly experienced severe internal bleeding post-operation, which necessitated a blood transfusion. Although she was discharged after three days and appeared to be in recovery, her health deteriorated rapidly. Her kidneys began to fail, and despite beginning dialysis on June 2, she succumbed shortly after returning home.
Her sudden passing has stunned fans and fellow creators, many of whom had followed her journey through highs and lows shared openly on her TikTok platform. Milly’s content, often focused on themes of love, motherhood, and mental health, resonated with a wide audience and earned her a loyal following.
Her grieving husband, Odeke, who had married her just weeks prior, spoke briefly at the family gathering, asking for privacy during this painful time.
“Please give us space to mourn,” he said tearfully, declining to elaborate further.
Milly’s personal journey—from a troubled childhood and survival-driven decisions in early adulthood, to finding love abroad, becoming a mother, and eventually rebuilding her life in Kenya—made her a relatable and inspiring figure to many.
Her online presence gained prominence through content featuring her former partner, known as Doc, a clinical doctor. Their relationship became widely followed, with romantic and domestic clips that portrayed an idyllic bond. However, Milly later revealed that the relationship had been emotionally abusive, calling Doc a narcissist and sharing painful experiences of mistreatment.
Following their separation, Milly became vocal about emotional abuse and mental health, encouraging others to seek healing and self-respect.
Her death has prompted an outpouring of tributes across social media, with the hashtag #RIPMillyWaDoc trending. Among those paying homage was fellow creator Carolyne DeMathew, who wrote:
“Milly wa Doc, Rest in peace. Ladies, what lesson have we learnt? Love hurts.”
Milly Wa Doc’s passing leaves a void not only in the hearts of those closest to her but also among the thousands of fans who saw her as a beacon of resilience. Plans for her memorial and funeral are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
