Police in Reading, UK have launched an investigation after a Kenyan woman was brutally killed in her flat.

The 39-year-old Linner Sang from Kericho was stabbed to death by her husband during a domestic dispute, according to The Kenyan Diaspora Media.

Thames Valley Police said they were called to A4 London Road, near Regent Street on Sunday, September 7 at 2:35pm after reports of a stabbing.

Sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene. A 29-year-old man, her husband, was arrested shortly after.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart May from the Major Crime Unit said the case is being treated as murder.

“We are in the very early stages of this investigation, but we have made an arrest and are not seeking anyone else at this stage. There is no wider threat to the public,” he said. “Please don’t speculate on social media.”

Linner had only graduated and got a job as a Social Care Worker in the UK in 2023. Her husband who also worked in the same sector joined her in the UK shortly after.

According to The Kenyan Diaspora Media, the couple had a disagreement on Thursday, September 3 and Linner had to leave their shared apartment temporarily. On Sunday she went back with a friend to collect her belongings but another argument ensued and tragically ended in her death.

Neighbours who heard her screams said the suspect jumped out of the window and was later found by police near a river trying to take his own life.

The Kenyan community in the UK is in shock with many mourning the loss of a woman who had just started building her career abroad.
