Two Police Officers Arrested After Gunshots Rock Eldoret Nightclub During Chaotic Late-Night Drama
Two Kenyan police officers, including a senior officer commanding a police station in Nairobi, were arrested after a dramatic shooting incident at a popular nightclub in Eldoret on Friday night.

The incident, which unfolded at Baniyas Night Club in Uasin Gishu County, reportedly caused panic among revellers after one of the officers allegedly fired a live round inside the packed entertainment joint following a heated confrontation with staff.
According to a police occurrence book (OB) report filed at Eldoret Police Station, the officers had spent several hours at the club before the situation spiralled out of control.
The report indicates that the two officers arrived at the establishment at around 12:30pm, where they ordered food and drinks and remained there throughout the day until approximately 9pm when an argument reportedly broke out between them and a waiter.
What began as a verbal disagreement quickly escalated into chaos.
Police reports seen by local media state that one of the officers allegedly drew a Ceska pistol and discharged a single round inside the nightclub, sending customers and workers into panic.
โThe bouncers at the said establishment acted swiftly and disarmed the said person,โ part of the OB report read.
Security personnel at the club are said to have intervened immediately before police officers from Eldoret Police Station were alerted and dispatched to the scene.
The two suspects were subsequently arrested in an operation led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Eldoret Police Station.
Authorities confirmed that a firearm was recovered from the scene following the arrests.
โA pistol made Ceska serial No. KP KE G8262, loaded with 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition, was secured from the staff of the said establishment,โ the police report stated.
Investigators also recovered a spent cartridge from inside the club as forensic inquiries into the shooting incident commenced.
In another shocking twist, officers conducting searches on the suspects reportedly recovered large sums of money and foreign currency.
Police disclosed that the officers were found carrying Ksh673,000 in cash, alongside 5 euros, 15 U.S. dollars, and 10 Polish zloty.
During the chaotic confrontation, the two officers were allegedly attacked by members of the public and sustained facial injuries before uniformed officers rescued them from the angry crowd.
Subsequent investigations established that the suspects were serving police officers.
One of them was identified as a Chief Inspector currently serving as the Officer Commanding Villa Police Station in Kibra Sub-county, Nairobi, while the second suspect is a Police Constable attached to Kapsaos Police Post in Turbo Sub-county, Uasin Gishu County.

The two officers were later booked at Eldoret Police Station, where they remain in custody pending further investigations.
The incident is likely to renew public scrutiny over police conduct, firearm discipline, and accountability within the National Police Service, particularly involving armed officers outside active duty.
