CCTV Footage Reveals Chilling Final Moments of Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu Before Murder
Detectives investigating the murder of lawyer Kyalo Mbobu have got new leads after reviewing CCTV footage that captured his last hours. The chilling clips suggest he may have been followed from his Nairobi office to the spot where he was shot on Magadi Road.
According to the footage, Mbobu started his Tuesday morning at 6:35 a.m. when he arrived at his office at Town House along Kaunda Street. He was dressed in a black suit and red tie and checked in at the entrance before stopping by the security desk to pick up newspapers. He then went to his office on the 9th floor where he spent most of the morning.
At 10 a.m. the cameras caught Mbobu stepping out of his office and briefly talking to a woman in the corridor before going back in. Later in the day at 5:14 p.m. he was seen leaving his office and taking the elevator to the ground floor. Interestingly another man exited the same lift just seconds after him.
Moments after Mbobu walked out of the building another man dressed in black, carrying a bag and standing near the premises appeared on camera. He made a call but hung up as soon as Mbobu passed by. He then walked in the same direction as Mbobu.
Colleagues who interacted with Mbobu on that day said he didn’t show any signs of distress. “During the day he met a client and went for a meeting at around noon. He came back at 2:30 p.m. and continued with his work as usual,” one colleague said.
DCI detectives are now focusing on the man seen standing and making a call outside the office premises, considering him a key lead in the murder probe. Additional footage reviewed by the investigators tracked Mbobu’s car as he drove along Wabera Street, Parliament Road, Lang’ata Road and finally Magadi Road where his attackers struck.
As the investigation continues police have identified at least two people linked to the incident. They are among the people Mbobu interacted with on the day he was killed but they have not been named publicly.
The emerging CCTV evidence will be crucial in helping detectives piece together Mbobu’s last moments and the motive behind the murder.
